Body Skin Care 101: How to Get Smooth and Glowing Skin

Your body is your temple, and yes, it’s a cliché, but if you want to have great skin, then you must keep this quote in mind and treat your body as such. Meaning, your skin care shouldn’t end at just your face.

Just like you would take care of your face and hair, it’s important to also take care of the skin on your body, but the sad reality is that people often forget to care for their bodies. In this blog post, we will discuss the best way to take care of your body’s skin. We’ll cover everything from cleansing to moisturization, and we’ll give you some tips for keeping your skin healthy, smooth, and glowing all year long!

Cleanse

Obviously, the first step in body skin care is cleansing, a.k.a. taking a shower. You might also be thinking, which is better for your skin: hot or cold water? The answer is that both can be beneficial to your skin, but keep in mind that hot showers – though they do give relief from the common cold/cough and improve blood circulation – can also dry out your skin and is not advisable for people suffering from eczema.

Cold showers, on the other hand, also improves blood circulation, great for when you need to be fully awake and alert for the day ahead, plus it’s gentler on the skin and hair. However, it should already be common sense to you not to take a cold shower when you are sick as it might worsen your condition.

Let’s talk bath soap. Don’t just go for whatever soap you find in the drugstore. Make sure you choose a gentle soap or body wash that won’t irritate your skin or strip it of its natural oils. When shopping for body wash or soap, look for ones with moisturizing ingredients like shea butter, cocoa butter, ceramides, or plant oils like olive, jojoba, and safflower. Trust me, your skin will feel so soft and luxurious.

Got body acne? Choose a soap or body wash with benzoyl peroxide or salicylic acid. Just be careful though as it can dry out your skin so make sure you moisturize after.

Exfoliate

It’s also important to exfoliate your body regularly. Exfoliation helps remove dead skin cells, which can build up and make your skin look dull. It also helps unclog pores and prevent breakouts. Spalina Skincare’s Rosemary Mint Salt Scrub is very effective in removing build-up of dead skin cells and moisturizing the skin. It contains Dead Sea Salts which are known for their purifying properties, Avocado oil which is great for moisturizing dry skin, and Soybean oil which is rich in Vitamin E.

Moisturize

Moisturizing your body is very important in maintaining the health of your skin’s protective barrier. The best way to moisturize? Right out of the shower, while your skin is still damp to help seal in the moisture.

Hate thick body moisturizers that leave your skin feeling sticky and icky? Then opt for Spalina Skincare’s Citrus and Verbena Body Lotion! It’s a lightweight body lotion that contains Lactic Acid that helps exfoliate dead skin cells leaving you with smooth and glowing skin. It also contains Aloe Barbadensis Leaf Juice and Algae (derived from seaweed) that work to hydrate and soften skin.

Sunscreen

And of course, we shouldn’t forget sunscreen. It’s the “secret” to slowing down the aging process! Protect your body from the harsh UV rays and prevent premature wrinkles and sagging of the skin. Sunscreens also help you reduce the risks of getting sun spots/age spots and even skin cancer.

Eat a healthy diet

Of course, doing all the things mentioned above is not enough to give you smooth and glowing skin if you don’t eat a healthy diet. Make sure you include fruits and vegetables in your diet and less of the junk foods that can be addicting, but totally bad for the skin.
